Try this on for size

I was actually going to title this post "Does size matter?" but then I decided that would show up on some scary Google searches. Anyway.

Brego is LARGE. It's not just that he's 16.3 (which really isn't all that tall), but he probably weighs in at 1700 pounds. Granted, he's a bit overweight, but even when he's fit, he's just a massive guy.

Large and in charge

He wears a 7 inch bit, and I don't even want to think about what size shoe he might be (luckily, he's barefoot and has fantastic feet).

My foot vs. Brego foot. Clearly I need to avoid any accidental foot-stompings.

And a Paddy foot for comparison (note that I wear a 7.5 shoe)

Guess which fly mask is his? (HINT: It's the one that's twice as large as any of the others)

A regular A/P pad looks like a postage stamp on his back. And Paddington looks like a midget next to him.

Great, I now look like I own a pony. Paddy's 15.1, I swear!

Paddy and his (oversized) shadow.

And just in case you were wondering, Brego sports a size 87 blanket. I didn't even know they MADE blankets that big!

BFFs don't know that they're mismatched size-wise!

  1. that's a LOT of horse- Paddy's face looks half the size of Brego's! and i hear ya on the awkward google searches.... it took a while to name the fauxpro bc all i could think was 'boob cam'... and just... no.

  2. Even though Skye was 15.1 and Sydney is only 15.3 I had to buy all new tack for her. I went from a 50 inch girth to a 56 inch girth, wide treed saddle to extra wide treed saddle, cob or horse sized bridle to warmblood or oversized bridle...

  4. At least they make bigger stuff these days. When I bought Apollo 7 years ago there was never anything large enough for him. He wears an 84 and that was unthinkably huge! Actually I have a draft size fly mask with ears that is too big for Apollo, would Brego like it? I've been trying to find someone to give it to but Apollo has the biggest head I know!

    1. Actually, we asked for all Brego's tack, because I remember how much trouble Daun had finding stuff to fit him and I didn't want to go through that.

And sure, Brego wears Draft size everything!

  13. Lovely to see Brego settling in with his new BFF. They are ultra-cute together :)
Speaking of scary google searches, years ago when the internet was in it's infancy, my friend's horse had a bad leg wound which developed proud flesh/granular tissue. So she googled (although it might have been yahoo, we are talking mid-nineties) and got onto a whole pile of porn sites. Not a big deal, except she was in work, they had a firewall which detected inappropriate use of the internet and SHE was the senior System Administrator. So she had to go to the guy who analysed the reports and tell him what had happened... embarrassing!

    1. Oh dear! Internet searches are always scary. If you haven't seen the College Humor videos "If Google was a guy," you definitely should. NSFW though!

  15. Just took a hop over to check out your paint - he is gorgeous - and incredibly white! No wonder you say never again to paints! Nice herd you have here, and it is really fun to look at all the hunting and jousting pics - really neat and way different than anything we do.

    1. Haha, he's only white when I scrub him for hours. I should have bought stock in Quick Color and blueing, I used soooo much of both! His favorite color to be is dirty, though.
