This morning, while the family was away at kiddo #2's graduation ceremony, Anie passed away quietly in her favorite shady spot.
She's been going downhill for about the past month or so, and we had actually planned to contact a mobile vet to come out next week to put her down. However, she apparently decided that today was the time.
She will be greatly missed as our diligent and fearless guardian dog, digger of giant holes, and official greeter.
Rest in peace, sweet girl.
She was lucky to have such a lovely retirement home for her last days!
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky to have her!
DeleteOh heck - somehow how I missed this post. Blogger has been acting up fo me lately...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss. Anie must have been a sweet, sweet girl to pass on in her favorite spot like that.
I have one approaching the end of her days in the not too distant future... hope she goes just as peacefully.
Blogger has been doing funny stuff for me too of late. Hopefully it's back to normal.
DeleteAnie was one of the sweetest, kindest dogs I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She truly took her duties as guardian seriously, but was gentle to everything and everyone she was guarding.
I hope your oldster has a quiet, peaceful end, and that it's far in the future.
I'm so sorry for your loss! It sounds like you were blessed to share your lives together. Virtual hugs to you!
ReplyDelete...in her favorite shady spot. :) Sorry for loss, but what a wonderful way for a dog to go.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Margaret - sad, but perfect...
