Did I mention that we have a strict no dogs on the furniture policy at our house? And do you have any idea how much hair a Pyr can dump on the couch in one 8 hour sleeping period? It looked like someone had knitted our sofa cushions.
So off I went to Costco, to procure the largest dog bed I could find. This turned out to be a duplicate of Elias' 42 inch round bed. I'd show you a picture to prove that it was too small for Gus, but he wouldn't stay in it for long enough for me to take a picture, so you'll just have to take my word on it.
Next up, I visited a couple of local pet stores. Apparently a 30x40 inch bed is considered XXL. Gus said this was unacceptable.
So of course I ordered the biggest bed I could find off Amazon. This turned out to be a 47x38 inch Serta memory foam bed, which I was pretty sure we could use as a guest bed in a pinch. It arrived on Tuesday.
This is the biggest box I've ever seen.
Gus for size comparison.
Husband and Gus for size comparison. At this point we were both wondering if I'd actually bought a human-sized TWIN bed by mistake.
Hubby trying out Gus's new bed. He almost fit.
It kinda makes him look small...
The Gus seal of approval.
The things we do for our animals.
I feel like each of our dogs needs one of these. But then we'd need a whole room just for the dogs.
ReplyDeleteThey do come in smaller sizes!

ReplyDeleteYeah, Gus isn't that talented...
DeleteHA! I do not have a "no dogs on the furniture" rule. I just have a "buy a couch the same color as the dogs and vacuum it a lot" rule. That said. I bought a super used pleather futon off craigslist with a broken down bit in the middle. The broken down bit? It's exactly sized for a little husky ball. It's also in my sunroom with all the windows and in view of the kitchen counters. Boom. New favorite husky-bed. And easy to clean, too.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as a "little Pyr ball".
DeleteI have a loosely-enforced "no dogs on the couch" rule, plus a leather couch I got used for $100. My dogs are currently OBSESSED with these two beds I got on black friday for $10 though, so bargain shopping ftw?
ReplyDeleteI wish that bed had cost $10. FML.
DeleteHahaha it basically is a mattress! Looks like he loves it though :)
ReplyDeleteIt is. I was wondering if they came in king size, for our bed.
Deleted'awww! he looks almost like a widdle puppy on that thing!
ReplyDeleteYou should see Elias, who looks like a teeny tiny midget!
DeleteAwww he looks so happy!!
ReplyDeleteAnd we're happy because he's not on the couch!
DeleteI bought an almost-as-giant bed for the puppy on Black Friday and she won't sleep on it. She prefers the tiny beds that we bought ages ago for my Heelers, so now of course the Heeler parks it in the middle of the giant bed, and the puppy plops half her body on the tiny beds. Whatever, dogs.
ReplyDeleteAs long as someone is in the dog beds and not on the couch, I don't care how mine organize things. Still, a Pyr in a tiny bed would be pretty funny!
DeleteHe looks so happy now.
ReplyDelete:D
DeleteMy dog has not one, but TWO beds in our living room. Yet I still can't keep her hairy Labrador ass off my couch when we're not home.
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHHAHA... I'm glad to know we're not the only ones with this problem. Uh... put the bed on the couch?
DeleteLooks comfy!
ReplyDeleteGus seems to think so!
DeleteBf's dog has a bed and we have a "no go on the couch unless invited" policy. But the second we are gone she is all over it
ReplyDeleteOur other dog knows that he's not allowed on the couch, and in 12 years we've never actually caught him on it, so he swears he's NEVER been on it. However, the Malamute hairs tell a different story...
